What ACCW is doing in South Korea
|
Americans Caring for Children Worldwide has supported a short-term orphanage in Busan, South Korea for many years. The Sung Ae Won Babies Home is in excellent physical condition in a middle-class area of the city. All of the children are adopted before they reach the age of 7. Most adoptions take place within the second year.
Presently 93 children, ranging from newborn to 6 years old, are residents. These children are found abandoned in dumpsters, garbage cans, hidden in bushes, left on the doorsteps of the police station or local hospital.
Each child receives a medical examination and the necessary medical attention determined from that exam. In the orphanage a dietary nutritional feeding program exists often necessary to restore the child to a condition of health. The resident children are given educational training as their age permits. Christian religious instruction is also given in daily chapel services. The children respond well and are happy.
